General Information regarding Manorhouse Stone fireplaces
1. Suitability
Our fireplaces are suitable for almost any interior. They are all timeless designs that sit comfortably in traditional as well as contemporary surroundings. They can be used as traditional open fires, with a dog grate, or you can opt for a wood-burning stove, a gas-log effect fire, or one of the many other types of fire appliance. The versatility of your fireplace makes it suitable for almost any option.
2. Installation
All of our fireplaces come with detailed fitting instructions. Once the site is prepared, the actual fitting of a standard stone fireplace is not complicated. The most important factors are taking great care not to damage the various stone blocks during installation, as some are very heavy. A fitting kit is supplied with each fireplace, and a competent builder should have no trouble with the installation, provided that they follow our guidelines correctly. If there are any queries about specific installation problems, then your installer or builder can call our office for advice at any time.
We can send out our own fitters, but unless you are local to our works, this can prove expensive. Feel free to contact us with any of your installation questions. In the case of complex one-off fireplaces we would usually use our own masons for the installation, and a price for that work would be included in your quotation.
3. Delivery
Depending on the number and type of products required, delivery is normally only a few weeks from order. For standard items we sometimes have stock and can therefore help when your need is urgent. We can get our local delivery company to deliver your fireplace to your site on the day of your choice, or you can send your own carrier/ builder to collect your fireplace from our works. If you chose to use our delivery service, then you will pay exactly what the carrier charges us: We do not add anything on.
4. Design Service
If there isn't anything in the standard range that quite fits what you are looking for, then contact us with an outline of your requirements, and we will endeavour to come up with a design that suits your criteria. The more information you can give us the better; pictures and dimensions of the proposed location of your fireplace; sketches of any ideas that you have, or of features that you would like to include; photographs of any fireplaces that you have seen elsewhere, that you like the basic design of. Basically anything that you think may be relevant. We have many years experience in the fireplace trade and are confident that we will be able to produce something that suits your needs. This design service is Free of Charge.
5. Chimneys and flues
For most types of fire, you are going to need a chimney or a flue of some sort. If you are building a new property, then you can specify that the flue is of suitable specification for the fireplace that you intend to install. If you are fitting your fireplace in an existing property, then you should be able to use an existing flue. Large open fires need large flues, and that is why old houses invariably already have large flues (the sort of things that people could climb up to clean!) We can give you some guidance on the sort of flue you will need based on the size of fireplace you would like and the type of building you are installing it in. Would burning stoves, and other controlled combustion fires are less critical in terms of flue requirements. If you have any queries, feel free to contact us. |
